AWL develops and manufactures sophisticated robotic machines that incorporate numerous components with varying power consumptions and simultaneities. Because of this, the power consumption calculations are very complex.

Assignment:

The size of the electrical connection is calculated using all the main power components in a machine. Because the simultaneities are hard to determine, the electrical connection is too.

With sustainability in mind, AWL aims to enhance the accuracy of power consumption calculations for its complex robotic machines. In this project you will investigate existing methods for calculating power consumption in complex machinery, and analyse the power consumption patterns of different components used in AWL’s machines.

The aim of the project is to ensure a clear and precise method to calculate power consumption, considering the various components and their simultaneities. An advisory report will also be produced to guide the implementation of these calculations into the project workflow.

Level of the assignment:

  • Education level: HBO Electrical Engineering
  • Competences: Analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail
  • Languages: Both English and Dutch required.

Tasks:

  • Research and analyse the existing methods of calculating power consumption in complex machinery, and measure this in real AWL machines.
  • Develop a clear and accurate method for calculating the power consumption of AWL’s machines. Ensure the method accounts for the simultaneities of different components.
  • Produce an advisory report detailing the developed calculation method. Provide recommendations for integrating the new calculation method into AWL’s project workflow.
